1. Digital Electronic System on Chip (SoC) Design Methodologies – Evolution and Trends

Presenter: Prof. Marcian Cirstea

Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK

Email: marcian.cirstea@aru.ac.uk

Abstract: This tutorial reviews methodologies for modelling and design of digital electronic systems, mainly focussing on those targeting Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) as system-on-chip implementation for rapid prototyping from the same CAD environment.

Agenda Highlights:

  • Speaker’s Background
  • Introduction to ARU
  • Part One: Evolution of SoC Design
  • Part Two: Trends in SoC Design

2. Contactless Power Transfer

Presenter: Prof. Babak Fahimi

University of Texas at Dallas, USA

Email: fahimi@utdallas.edu

Abstract: Dynamic contactless charging offers a promising alternative for the global introduction of electrified automobiles. This multidisciplinary technology combines civil, mechanical, electrical, and material sciences to reduce reliance on lithium and eliminate the need for expensive and hazardous battery energy storage systems in vehicles. The tutorial covers both stationary and dynamic wireless charging systems for electric vehicles, including design principles, power electronics configurations, and engineering challenges. It is ideal for industry professionals and graduate students.

Agenda Highlights:

  • Fundamentals of Contactless Power Transfer
  • Recent Advances in Wireless Charging Technology
  • Design Principles and Power Electronics
  • Engineering Challenges and Opportunities
  • Case Studies: Ongoing Implementations and Research
